Description

Join us Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 pm on a 27 seat luxury coach as we discover the rich history of the Underground Railroad in Niagara.

The Underground Railroad was a network of people who hid and guided freedom seekers as they followed the North Star to Canada. Millions of Black Africans were shipped by boat as slaves to the Caribbean in overcrowded and horrific conditions. Over 40,000 fled to Canada, the promised land.

In 1793, Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe introduced a bill which prevented the introduction of further slavery into Upper Canada. Simcoe was stationed in what is now known as Niagara on the Lake. At the time he had renamed it Newark (believing it to be an ark of refuge).

As we gather this weekend for this appointed time to listen to what The Lord has to say, we believe He has specifically called us to this place as well. So let's also pay attention to His purpose and destiny for this place. History will give us some insight into this.

Guided by Wilma Morrison, a Canadian national treasure, we'll hear uplifting and heartbreaking, stories of Niagara's role in the Underground Railroad. Click HERE to read more about Wilma Morrison.

There will be a 20 minute stop at Niagara Falls and then we'll spend time praying in the Nathaniel Dett Chapel, an historically designated church in Niagara Falls, saved almost single handedly by Wilma.

Cost for the tour is $30 Canadian or $25 US and a minimum group size of 18 is needed. Please register before December 10, 2015. Cash payment can be made at the Summit.
